La galardonada Compañía Juvenil de ProyectoTEATRO presenta Persiguiendo al Dragón, una sátira dramática original que explora el mundo controversial de la drogas ilícitas y su rol dentro de la sociedad, desde el pasado hasta hoy en día. 
 
El año es 2121 y el mundo entero renace tras un apocalipsis provocado por la derrota de la guerra contra las drogas que lanzó el presidente de los Estado Unidos Richard Nixon en 1971. La nueva sociedad ha legalizado los narcóticos y todo marcha bien, hasta que se descubre que los cuerpos de los seres humanos están creando una resistencia contra las drogas - ¡Incluyendo la medicina! El gobierno reacciona rápidamente y contrata a dos científicas para resolver el misterio médico, pero lo que se plantea como solución, tiene doble cara. Persiguiendo al Dragón usa la historia para construir una nueva perspectiva sobre las crisis que se vive en México por la violencia del narcotráfico y la ola de sobredosis que azota a los Estados Unidos.
 
Una obra que fusiona el teatro, el movimiento, y un guion original basado en los conceptos e investigaciones del elenco juvenil para desempacar la experiencia humana de dolor emocional, el placer, la adicción, y sus encrucijadas con las manipulaciones gubernamentales. "Persiguiendo al Dragón" fué escrita y dirigida por Luis Ordaz Gutiérrez y cuenta con la coreografía de Jasmine De Leon, entrenamiento musical de Josh Flowers, y proyecciones visuales de Hector Ordaz.

¡Nueva tradición! Siguiendo con nuestra misión de compartir el teatro con todos los sectores de la comunidad, ProyectoTEATRO lanza la nueva tradición de presentar estrenos de cartelera libres de costo, ¡empezando con la función de estreno de "Persiguiendo al Dragón"!

ABOUT THE PLAY

The award-winning ProyectoTEATRO Youth Company presents Persiguiendo al Dragón (Chasing The Dragon), an original satirical drama that explores the controversial world of illicit drugs and their role within society, past and present.
 
The year is 2121 and the entire world is reborn after an apocalypse sparked by the failure of the War on Drugs launched by US president Richard Nixon in 1971. The new society has legalized drugs and everything is in order, until word gets out that human bodies are building a resistance to drugs - including medicine! The government enlists two scientists to resolve this medical phenomenon, but what seems to be the solution might just have an ulterior motive. Persiguiendo al Dragón (Chasing The Dragon) draws on history to create fresh perspective on todays drug and cartel violence ravishing Mexico and the overdose crisis hitting the US.
 
This play uses theatre, movement, and an original script built with the ideas and research of the youth ensemble, to unpack the human experience of pain, pleasure and addiction, and their crossroads with governmental manipulation.
 
Persiguiendo al Dragón was written and directed by Luis Ordaz Gutierrez, choreographed by Jasmine De Leon, musical training taught by Josh Flowers, and visual projections by Hector Ordaz.

New tradition! In hopes of making theatre accessible to all sectors of our community, ProyectoTEATRO launches the new tradition of presenting admission-free opening nights for all main-stage performances, starting with Persiguiendo al Dragón!
